About
A technique that uses glass or acrylic or silicon suction cups to create negative pressure rather than the tissue compression of traditional massage. With acrylic cups the therapist uses a suction pump to create the negative pressure which then draws the tissue up inside the cup. The cups are left in place for 5-15 minutes, or are moved around the area being treated. The suction and pull on the tissues from the cup, especially in a treatment where the cups are moved around, effects the lymphatic system specifically when going in the direction of lymphatic flow and the connective tissues by softening and smoothing adhesions.
